We hope you will come worship with us on Sundays at 10:30am. If you were to attend Sunday worship at First Mennonite Church (FMC), here is what you can expect:
FMC is located at 418 Queen Street, just west and across the street from the City Hospital. FMC has a parking lot that is open and available to those who come to worship on Sunday. There is some parking on the street, although that is more limited.
There are a couple of ways people enter the church building. Those who require parking, tend to come into church using an entrance on the west side of the building. There are also two separate entrances at the front of the church. For those who have mobility issues and need use of an elevator, we recommend you enter the church via the main doors at ground level at the front of the church. The front of the church is facing Queen Street.
When you enter, a greeter will be in the front foyer to warmly greet you and give you a printed bulletin. The printed bulletin contains the order of service, which usually includes details about the worship service (call to worship, various prayers, hymns, offering, scripture readings, a sermon, and music from the choir). The worship leader, a person from within the congregation, guides the congregation through worship.
You are welcome to sit anywhere that you would like to sit in the sanctuary.
At the beginning of the worship service, we invite visitors to introduce themselves. This is by invitation only and visitors are under no obligation to introduce themselves if they do not want to.
You can expect that every Sunday time is set aside during the service when an offering is taken. The offering is only for those who voluntarily wish to give money for the work of the church. You are under no obligation to contribute.
There is no dress code at FMC. If you decide to come and worship at FMC, please come dressed as you feel comfortable. We would love to have you join us!
We welcome you to First Mennonite Church.
