Bridge Builders
We live in a world of walls. Enmity between Jew and Gentile epitomized this wall. Ephesians 2:11 22 marvels how Christ broke down the walls of fear, mistrust, and hate in order to create a new human, and brought them together into the church. The mission of the church is to continue removing walls of enmity and build bridges so God can bring about peace and reconciliation. This witness happens both across the street and around the world.

Give Thanks in all Circumstances
On this Thanksgiving Sunday, Paul M reminded us to give thanks to God in all circumstances. It’s a form of spirituality where we acknowledge God as the giver of all that we have, and we respond by living lives of gratitude, generosity, and grace.
Do this in remembrance of me
We celebrated World Communion Sunday. The Corinthian church forgot about why they were eating together, so they reverted to old cultural practices where some were excluded. Paul told them it wasn’t right. When they get together, they should “do this in remembrance of me.” The this in the phrase is to remember the lengths God went to reconcile us. In other words, when we receive communion, we remember the new creation that was ushered in by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. When we come to the Lord’s table, we come because of God’s grace, not because we are worthy.
