WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Isaiah 64:1,6,9; Psalm 80:3)

O that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence.

Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved.

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy cloth.

Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved.

Do not remember our iniquity forever.

               (Light one Advent candle)

Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved.

CONFESSION AND WORDS OF ASSURANCE

(Adapted from Isaiah 64:5-6,8-9; Psalm 80:3)

Is there any hope for us? Can we be saved?

All of us are unclean. Our righteous acts are like filthy rags.

Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord; Do not remember our sins forever. Look upon us, we pray.

O Lord, you are our Father.

We are the clay, and you are our potter.

We are all the work of your hand.

        Forgive our sins.

            [pause for silent prayers]

No ear has heard, no eye has seen a God like you,

who works for those who wait for him.

Mold us and make us into vessels you can use.

Restore us, O God. Make your face shine upon us,

      that we may be saved.
