Here at FMC, we are continuing our focus on the book of Ephesians in the New Testament of the Bible. Today’s theme is about walking in a way that is worthy of our high calling as sons and daughters of God. Christians are called to walk in ways that are different than people in the world. Today, our guest speaker, Paul M, reflects on the gospel of Matthew. It is normal for us to have concerns and worries, even on Thanksgiving Day. Ultimately, God is the one who gives life. All that we are and all that we have are gifts of God's grace. Keeping our focus on God and God's coming Reign requires us to change. Living in God's world invites us to love, share, and care for our neighbours.

Today is World Communion Sunday, a day when we, together with many other Christians around the world, share communion. On this day we celebrate with our brothers and sisters around the world our unity in Christ, the Prince of Peace, in the midst of the world we are called to serve – a world ever more in need of God’s peace and justice.
Also, on 30 September 2021 it was National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, we as a faith community affirm our belief that the earth is a gift from God our Creator. Together with the first people of this land, we are called to be stewards of this earth that sustains us, and we are grateful for that privilege. Therefore, we acknowledge with deep gratitude our presence on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional land of diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Dene and Saulteaux, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. The land is an important part of our faith and we also recognize that it is has always been at the centre of Indigenous life, culture and spirituality. May we treat this land and all its people with respect and understanding, as we strive for peace and right relationships with all who share it.
