Today is the third Sunday of Lent. People have many different answers to being Christian and being a Christian community. The people in Corinth disagreed over this question with the Greeks promoting another and Jewish Christians another. Today, many people prefer a gospel that promises health, wealth, success and happiness. We tend to focus on preserving the church as an institution and shift our focus away from the gospel. However, the gospel is about the scandal of the cross. The apostle Paul talks about the cross as a stumbling-block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. It is the wisdom of God.
